This is a complicated design featuring multitudes of small flowers representing the landscape along with a human form. The circles represent "infinity" and have been a typical design element in all of DIACCA's work beginning with her paintings at graduate level and continue throughout all her work. These pieces are part of a series of cloisonné work which were designed to be wall mounted. The majority of all the enamels are fully transparent and all are of the lead-bearing type. I believe that glass (enamel) should really reflect and refract as I believe glass is intended to. I do not like to fill between the cloisons with enamel flush to the top as is the usual manner of cloisonné artists creating a flat surface. If the wires project a slight bit and the enamel is a bit concave, it only adds to the interest, reflectivity and subtle depth of the piece. | |
